Favorite verse/passage and why?
My favorite passage is Psalm 37:23-24, which says, “The steps of a man are established by the Lord, when he delights in His way; though he fall, he shall not be cast headlong, for the Lord upholds his hand.”This passage contains such an encouraging promise – the Lord is the one who establishes our steps. We can do nothing without Him, and when we delight in following His way and doing His will, He will bless us. When we try to go our own way, which always leads to us falling, He is there to uphold our hand and pick us back up. What an amazing blessing that God would care so much for us to come down to our level and help us intimately in our daily walk with Him.
Who is a Bible character you look up to and why?
Paul; He gave everything he had to God – his upbringing, his mind, his strength, his accomplishments, his comfort, his entire life. He was fully committed to serving God and His church and to instructing and encouraging believers in their faith. He is the best expositor to have ever walked this earth besides Jesus Himself. He still struggled with his sinful flesh, but God gave him grace and strength to accomplish His work, using Paul’s own weakness for His own glory.
If you could travel through time, which Bible period would you want to land into? Why?
During Jesus’ 3-year ministry; The reason is pretty self-explanatory. There’s so much I want to know about how Jesus lived, what He taught, the ways He interacted with others, and the miracles He performed. As John said, if all the things Jesus did were written down, the whole world could not contain them. (Perhaps a bit of hyperbole, I know.) Still, there is so much that Jesus did that we’re not aware of, and I would love to go back and see what it was that went on when He walked this earth.
If someone asked you, “What do you believe?”, how would you answer them?
I believe that God is the Creator of all things, and He made everything perfectly. Man corrupted God’s creation with sin, plunging the human race into a hopeless condition. God chose to save a remnant among mankind by sending His Son, Jesus Christ, to pay the penalty for our sins, which only He could do because He was perfect. All who respond to Christ’s work on the cross in repentance from sin and faith and trust in His sacrifice alone will receive forgiveness of sin and eternal life in Heaven with God forever. All things, good and evil, work out for the greatest and highest glory of God, and He is sovereign over the events of all the universe. He will always be in control and He is fully trustworthy.
What is your favorite quote – be it spoken/written by you or others?
“Wherever God has me is where He wants me to be, and where God wants me to be is the best place for me to be.. My prayer was, ‘Do what is best for me, and give Yourself the most glory.’ I knew God would do this, but in what way I didn’t know. But that’s how God works. He doesn’t let us see the big picture so that we’ll learn to trust Him more. When we don’t know what the future holds, the only thing left for us to do is to lean on the One person who does know and trust Him to work things out in the best possible way.”

Not sure, but maybe yogurt-covered raisins (they are way too good)

I don’t give in to bribes very often, but when I do, it often involves being with friends.

Probably “Do you love your neighbor?”
Favorite subject
I really enjoyed algebra, and I’m sure I’ll love American Government once I take it. (I should be taking it now but I’m behind. Guess why?)

I’ve tried for a while to pick a favorite hymn, but I’m still not sure – they are so many good ones! I love Complete in Thee, How Firm a Foundation, His Mercy is More, and a lot of others.

God has blessed me with a sharp memory and quick thinking, and I hope I can use them in my career someday to glorify Him.

I really enjoy both soccer and chess, I couldn’t eat a hot dog to save my life, I speak another language (sarcasm), and I actually do play piano – just not the mini piano.
Future plans after Bible Bee? (e.g. college, career, etc.)
At this point, I’m definitely leaning toward attending Patrick Henry College in Virginia, especially because of the scholarships I’ve been able to get as a result of making Finals. I’ve considered a few career options for if I end up going there, including law. I considered that option for quite a while, and I’m now considering a different career in finance and business analytics. The first two years at PHC are part of the core curriculum, so nothing is final as of yet. Wherever the Lord leads is what I’ll end up doing.
I’m taking American Government this year too! (And I may or may not be behind…hehe ;))
