A Lost Lamb

Following the Shepherd
Down the long road home,
I start to stray away,
And I begin to roam.

Gleefully I wander
Through hills of grassy green,
Forgetting about the Shepherd,
And His love for me.

I start to look around
As night begins to fall,
I don’t know where I am,
I cry out and I call.

The Shepherd finds me missing,
And frantically starts to search,
Even for me, a runaway,
He would search the entire earth.

A final cry of desperation
Leaves my trembling lips,
At last the Shepherd spots me,
And over to me He slips.

He hoists me up onto His shoulders,
A loving and tender embrace,
The one thing that I know for sure,
Is with Him I’m forever safe.
